FBR’s intransigence threatens to close textile mills across the country

تفصیلات کے مطابق فیڈرل بورڈ آف ریونیو اور ٹیکسٹائل ملز مالکان کے درمیان فیکٹریوں کے اندر ٹیکس چوری روکنے کے لیے ڈیجیٹل مانیٹرنگ کیمرے لگانے کا معاملہ شدت اختیار کر گیا، جس کے باعث ملک بھر میں ٹیکسٹائل ملز کی بندش کا شدید خطرہ پیدا ہو گیا ہے۔
ذرائع نے بتایا کہ ایف بی آر نے ٹیکس چوری کی روک تھام کے لیے ٹیکسٹائل ملز مالکان کو ہدایت کی ہے کہ وہ فیکٹریوں کے اندر اپنے ذاتی خرچے پر سیکیورٹی اور مانیٹرنگ کیمرے نصب کریں۔
تاہم، ٹیکسٹائل ملز مالکان نے اس کروڑوں روپے کے اضافی اخراجات کا بوجھ اٹھانے سے صاف انکار کر دیا ہے۔
آل پاکستان ٹیکسٹائل ملز ایسوسی ایشن کے ذرائع کا کہنا ہے کہ موجودہ معاشی حالات میں صنعت کار کسی صورت یہ اخراجات برداشت نہیں کر سکتے، اور اگر ایف بی آر نے زبردستی کی تو فیکٹریاں مکمل طور پر بند کر دی جائیں گی۔
ٹیکسٹائل ملز مالکان نے ایف بی آر کے اس فیصلے پر سخت تنقید کرتے ہوئے کہا “سیف سٹی کیمرے چالان کرنے کے لیے سڑکوں پر لگائے جاتے ہیں، لیکن ان کا خرچہ گاڑی چلانے والا صارف برداشت نہیں کرتا۔”
انہوں نے واضح کیا کہ اگر ایف بی آر نے اپنی سہولت کے لیے مانیٹرنگ کرنی ہے تو وہ یہ کیمرے اپنے بجٹ اور خرچے سے لگائے۔
ذرائع اپٹما نے مزید انکشاف کیا ہے کہ ملک میں اب ٹیکسٹائل ملز کی کل تعداد سکڑ کر صرف 180 رہ گئی ہے، حکومت کو اگر ٹیکس چوری روکنی ہے اور ریونیو بڑھانا ہے تو صرف ٹیکسٹائل ملز کو نشانہ بنانے کے بجائے 1200 سے زائد جیننگ اور سپننگ ملز کو بھی اس دائرے میں شامل کیا جائے، جہاں سے حکومت کو کہیں زیادہ ٹیکس حاصل ہو سکتا ہے

According to details, the issue of installing digital monitoring cameras inside factories to prevent tax evasion has intensified between the Federal Board of Revenue and textile mill owners, which has created a serious threat of closure of textile mills across the country.
Sources said that to prevent tax evasion, the FBR has directed textile mill owners to install security and monitoring cameras inside factories at their own expense.
However, textile mill owners have flatly refused to bear the burden of this additional cost of crores of rupees.
Sources from the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association say that in the current economic situation, industrialists cannot afford these expenses, and if the FBR forces them, the factories will be completely closed.
Textile mill owners strongly criticized the FBR’s decision, saying, “Safe City cameras are installed on the roads to issue challans, but the consumer driving the vehicle does not bear their expenses.”
He clarified that if the FBR wants to monitor for its own convenience, it should install these cameras from its own budget and expense.
Sources from APTMA have further revealed that the total number of textile mills in the country has now shrunk to only 180. If the government wants to stop tax evasion and increase revenue, instead of targeting only textile mills, more than 1,200 ginning and spinning mills should also be included in this circle, from where the government can get much more tax.
