غیرملکی میڈیا کے مطابق زلزلے کے جھٹکے مقامی وقت کے مطابق دوپہر 12:30 بجے محسوس کیے گئے۔
زلزلے کے جھٹکوں کے باعث لوگوں میں خوف و ہراس پھیل گیا تھا، اس دوران لوگوں نے محفوظ جگہوں پر منتقل ہونے کی کوشش کی۔
میڈیا رپورٹس کے مطابق زلزلے کے باعث امریکا، برطانیہ اور فرانس کے سفارتخانوں کی عمارتوں کو بھی نقصان پہنچا ہے۔
زلزلے کے باعث دارالحکومت پورٹ ولا میں بھی ایک عمارت کو نقصان پہنچا ہے۔
پیسیفک سونامی وارننگ سینٹر کے مطابق سونامی کا خطرہ ختم ہو گیا ہے۔
