If the Indian attack had damaged the Neelum Jhelum project, it would have been a major disaster: Chairman WAPDA

چیئرمین واپڈا انجینئر لیفٹیننٹ جنرل (ر) سجاد غنی نے کہا ہے کہ بھارتی حملے سے نیلم جہلم منصوبے کو نقصان پہنچتا تو پانی کے ذخیرے سے بڑی تباہی ہو سکتی تھی، معاملہ عالمی سطح پر اٹھایا جائے گا۔
آزاد کشمیر کی وادی نیلم میں ڈیم پراجیکٹ کا معائنہ کرنے کے موقع پر میڈیا سے گفتگو میں انہوں نے کہا کہ ہائیڈرو پاور پروجیکٹ کے قریب آبادی کو بھی ٹارگٹ کرنے کی کوشش کی گئی، پاک فوج نے فوری جوابی کارروائی کی۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پہلی اور دوسری عالمی جنگ میں بھی آبی ذخائر کو نشانہ نہیں بنایا گیا،ڈیم پر ہائیڈرولک یونٹ کو نقصان پہنچا ہے، اگر اس حملے میں ڈیم سائیٹ کے آٹو میٹک سسٹم کو نقصان پہنچتا تو مظفرآباد سمیت ڈاؤن سٹریم کے تمام علاقے زیر آب آسکتےتھے۔
انہوں نے بتایا کہ سیاسی اور عسکری قیادت نے فیصلہ کیا ہے اس معاملے کو تمام عالمی فورمز پر اٹھایا جائے گا، یہ ایکٹ آف وار ہے جو پاکستان، اس کی حکومت اور عوام کیلئے ناقابل قبول ہے۔
چیئرمین واپڈا کا کہنا ہے کہ نقصان کا تخمینہ لگایا جا رہا ہے، ٹیکنیکل ماہرین کام کر رہے ہیں، نیلم جہلم میں پانی کا بہت بڑا ذخیرہ موجود ہے، یہ ہائیڈرو پراجیکٹ ایل او سی کے انتہائی قریب ہے اور ہماری افواج بھی یہاں تعینات ہیں۔

Chairman WAPDA Engineer Lieutenant General (retd) Sajjad Ghani has said that if the Indian attack had damaged the Neelum-Jhelum project, it could have caused major destruction to the water reservoir, and the matter will be raised at the international level.
Talking to the media on the occasion of inspecting the dam project in the Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir, he said that an attempt was made to target the population near the hydropower project, and the Pakistan Army immediately retaliated.
He said that water reservoirs were not targeted in the First and Second World Wars either, the hydraulic unit on the dam was damaged, and if the automatic system of the dam site had been damaged in this attack, all the downstream areas including Muzaffarabad could have been submerged.
He said that the political and military leadership has decided that this issue will be raised at all international forums, this is an act of war which is unacceptable for Pakistan, its government and its people.
Chairman WAPDA says that the damage is being estimated, technical experts are working, there is a huge water reserve in Neelum Jhelum, this hydro project is very close to the LoC and our forces are also deployed here.
