British MPs letter to Foreign Minister, demand to talk to Pakistan for Imran Khan’s release

یہ خط لیورپول ریور سائیڈ کے رکن پارلیمنٹ کم جانسن نے عمران خان کے مشیر برائے بین الاقوامی امور زلفی بخاری کی درخواست پر لکھا ہے۔ اس خط پر تمام جماعتوں کے کامنز اور لارڈز کے ارکان کے دستخط بھی موجود ہیں۔
ارکان پارلیمنٹ نے اپنے خط میں کہا کہ برطانوی حکومت کا یہ فرض بنتا ہے کہ وہ حکومت پاکستان سے بات کرے اور عمران خان کی رہائی کے لیے کوشش کرے۔
جن ارکان نے خط پر دستخط کیے ہیں ان میں ہاؤس آف لارڈز اور ہاؤس آف کامنز کے ارکان شامل ہیں۔ جن میں کم ایم پیز جانسن، پاؤلا بارکر، اپسانہ بیگم، لیام برن، روزی ڈفیلڈ، گل فرنس، پاؤلیٹ ہیملٹن، پیٹر لیمب، اینڈی میکڈونلڈ، ابتسام محمد، بیل ریبیرو ایڈی، زارہ سلطانہ، اسٹیو ویدرڈن، نادیہ وٹوم، بیرونس جان بیک ویل، بیرونس کرسٹین بلور جبکہ لارڈز ممبران میں پیٹر ہین، جان ہینڈی اور ٹوڈوانفی شامل ہیں۔مذکورہ بالا ارکان پارلیمنٹ نے کہا کہ پاکستان کے سابق وزیراعظم عمران خان کی مسلسل نظربندی پر شدید تشویش کے ساتھ لکھ رہے ہیں۔ عمران خان کی قید کا مقصد انہیں سیاسی عہدے کےلیے انتخاب لڑنے سے نااہل قرار دینا تھا۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ شروع سے ہی وہ استغاثہ قانون کی بنیاد پر نہیں تھا اور مبینہ طور پر اسے سیاسی مقصد کےلیے آلہ کار بنایا گیا تھا۔ عمران خان کی مسلسل نظر بندی ملک میں جمہوریت کےلیے ایک سنگین خطرے کی نمائندگی کرتی ہے۔
ارکان پارلیمنٹ کے مطابق قیاس آرائیاں کی جا رہی ہیں کہ عمران کی قسمت کا فیصلہ ممکنہ طور پر ایک فوجی عدالت کرے گی جو ایک تشویشناک اور مکمل طور پر غیر قانونی عمل ہوگا۔ ہم ہر جگہ انسانی حقوق، جمہوریت اور بین الاقوامی قانون کےلیے کھڑے ہیں۔
ارکان پارلیمنٹ نے مطالبہ کیا کہ عمران خان کی بحفاظت رہائی کےلیے پاکستانی حکومت سے بات کی جائے۔ ادھر برطانیہ میں موجود پی ٹی آئی کے رہنما زلفی بخاری نے کہا ہے کہ جن ممبران پارلیمنٹ اور ممبران ہاؤس آف کامنز نے خط پر دستخط کیے انکا شکریہ ادا کرتا ہوں۔
زلفی بخار کا کہنا تھا کہ ابھی 20 پیئرز اور ایم پیز نے اب تک اس کی توثیق کی ہے اور آنے والے دنوں میں بہت زیادہ لوگ ہمارے ساتھ ہونگے۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ عمران خان کی غیر قانونی قید ختم ہونی چاہیے۔ میں ہر اس شخص کا شکریہ ادا کرتا ہوں جو پاکستان میں قانون کی حکمرانی اور جمہوریت کی حمایت کرتا ہے۔

The letter was written by Kim Johnson, MP for Liverpool Riverside, at the request of Imran Khan’s adviser on international affairs, Zulfi Bukhari. The letter is also signed by members of the Commons and Lords from all parties. The MPs said in their letter that it is the duty of the British government to talk to the government of Pakistan and try to secure the release of Imran Khan. Members who have signed the letter include members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Among them are Kim MPs Johnson, Paula Barker, Apsana Begum, Liam Byrne, Rosie Duffield, Gill Furness, Paulette Hamilton, Peter Lamb, Andy MacDonald, Ibtisam Mohammed, Bel Ribeiro Eddy, Zara Sultana, Steve Weatherden, Nadia Wittom, Baroness John Beck. Vale, Baroness Christine Bloor, while Lords members include Peter Hein, John Handy and Todwanfi. The purpose of Imran Khan’s imprisonment was to disqualify him from running for political office. He added that from the beginning the prosecution was not based on law and was allegedly instrumentalized for political purpose. Imran Khan’s continued detention represents a serious threat to democracy in the country. According to MPs, speculation is rife that Imran’s fate will likely be decided by a military court, which would be a worrisome and completely illegal process. We stand for human rights, democracy and international law everywhere. The MPs demanded that talks should be held with the Pakistani government for the safe release of Imran Khan. On the other hand, PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari in UK has said that he thanks the members of Parliament and members of the House of Commons who signed the letter. Zulfi Bokar said that 20 peers and MPs have endorsed it so far and many more will join us in the coming days. He further said that illegal imprisonment of Imran Khan should end.
