The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission will arrive in Pakistan today, the talks will begin tomorrow

وزارتِ خزانہ کے  ذرائع کے مطابق آئی ایم ایف کا وفد 15 نومبر تک پاکستان میں قیام کرے گا، جسے پہلی سہ ماہی کے دوران معاشی کارکردگی پر بریفنگ دی جائے گی۔ذرائع کا کہنا ہے کہ منی بجٹ کے خد و خال سمیت آئی ایم ایف سے مذاکرات کے لیے ہوم ورک پر کام جاری ہے، جس میں ٹیکس ریونیو، تاجر دوست اسکیم اور توانائی کے شعبے میں اصلاحات شامل ہیں۔سالانہ ٹیکس ہدف پورا کرنے کے لیے ممکنہ منی بجٹ کے خد و خال پر بھی بات چیت ہو گی۔آئی ایم ایف کے وفد کو صوبائی سطح پر زرعی انکم ٹیکس کے نفاذ میں پیش رفت سے آگاہ کیا جائے گا۔ذرائع نے بتایا ہے کہ صوبائی حکومتیں قانون سازی کے لیے اکتوبر کی ڈیڈ لائن پوری کرنے میں ناکام رہیں۔آئی ایم ایف مشن کو 2.5 ارب ڈالرز کا فنانسنگ گیپ پورا کرنے کے لیے انتظامات سے آگاہ کیا جائے گا۔آئی ایم ایف کا وفد دورے میں توسیعی فنڈ سہولت پروگرام کے پہلے جائزے پر بات چیت نہیں کرے گا، موجودہ پروگرام کا پہلا اقتصادی جائزہ مارچ 2025ء میں شیڈول ہے۔

According to Finance Ministry sources, the IMF delegation will stay in Pakistan till November 15, which will be briefed on the economic performance during the first quarter. Sources said homework is underway for talks with the IMF, including on the mini-budget, which includes tax revenue, business-friendly schemes and energy sector reforms to meet the annual tax target. There will also be a discussion on the nature of the possible mini-budget. The IMF delegation will be briefed on the progress in the implementation of agricultural income tax at the provincial level. Sources said provincial governments failed to meet the October deadline for legislation. The IMF mission will be briefed on arrangements to close the $2.5 billion financing gap. The IMF delegation will not discuss the first review of the Extended Fund Facility program during the visit, the first economic review of the current program is scheduled for March 2025.
