Wheat procurement campaign in Punjab could not gain momentum.

14 اپریل کو گندم کی خریداری کا اعلان ہوا، ہدف صرف 20 لاکھ میٹرک ٹن رکھا گیا، پچھلے برس ہدف 37 لاکھ میٹرک ٹن تھا اور 32 لاکھ میٹرک ٹن گندم درآمد کی گئی۔

اس وقت فلور ملز کے پاس امپورٹڈ 32 لاکھ جبکہ محکمہ خوراک کے پاس 25 لاکھ میٹرک ٹن گندم موجود ہے۔

محکمہ خوراک نے 14 اپریل 2024 کو باردانہ ایپ فعال کی مگر دیہات کے ان پڑھ طبقے کی اکثریت کو ایپ استعمال کرنا نہیں آتی، باردانہ ایپ میں سخت شرائط کی وجہ سے کسانوں کی درخواستیں جمع نہ ہو سکیں۔

17 اپریل کو آن لائن باردانہ ایپ کی درخواستوں کا وقت ختم کر دیا گیا، ایپ بند ہونے سے کسان سراپا احتجاج بن گئے۔

سربراہ کسان اتحاد کونسل خالد کھوکھر نے وزیر اعلیٰ مریم نواز کو تحفظات بتا دیئے، وزیر اعلیٰ نے پالیسی پر نظرثانی کیلئے وقت مانگ لیا ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ وزیر اعظم نے بھی کسانوں کے تحفظات دور کرنے کی ہدایت کر دی، کسانوں نے 29 اپریل کو پنجاب اسمبلی کے سامنے دھرنا دینے کا اعلان بھی کیا ہے۔

On April 14, wheat procurement was announced, the target was set at only 2 million metric tons, last year the target was 3.7 million metric tons and 3.2 million metric tons of wheat was imported.

At present flour mills have 3.2 million metric tons of imported wheat while the food department has 2.5 million metric tons of wheat.

Food department activated Bardana app on 14th April 2024 but majority of the uneducated section of the villages do not know how to use the app, due to strict conditions in the Bardana app the applications of farmers could not be submitted.

On April 17, online bardana app applications were closed, with the closure of the app leading to widespread protests by farmers.

The head of Kisan Etihad Council, Khalid Khokhar, conveyed his concerns to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The Chief Minister has asked for time to review the policy.

He said that the Prime Minister has also directed to remove the concerns of the farmers, the farmers have also announced to hold a dharna in front of the Punjab Assembly on April 29.
