9 million gallons of sewage going into Rawal Dam every day: Sherry Rehman

سینیٹر شیری رحمٰن کی زیرِ صدارت سینیٹ کی قائمہ کمیٹی برائے ماحولیاتی تبدیلی کا اجلاس ہوا۔قائمہ کمیٹی کے اجلاس میں راول ڈیم میں آلودگی کے معاملہ زیرِ غور آیا۔شیری رحمٰن نے کہا کہ راول ڈیم میں روزانہ کی بنیاد پر 9 ملین گیلن سیوریج جا رہا ہے، ہم راول ڈیم سے آنے والا آلودہ پانی پی رہے ہیں، مقامی حکومت کس طرح کام کر رہی کچھ سمجھ نہیں آ رہا ہے۔اُنہوں نے سوال کیا کہ باہر کی کمپنی کو پلانٹ کا کنٹریکٹ کیوں دیا جا رہا ہے؟ ساری دنیا پانی کی آلودگی کے مسئلے کے حل کے لیے مقامی سطح پر کام کرتی ہے۔شیری رحمٰن نے کہا کہ راول ڈیم کے سیوریج کے انتظام کے لیے مقامی کمپنیوں کو ترجیح دی جائے، غیر ملکی کمپنیاں اور کنسلٹنٹ پراجیکٹ مکمل کیے بغیر چلے جائیں گے، ایسا ہوا تو آپ پھر پبلک اکاؤنٹس کمیٹی میں جواب دیتے پھریں گے۔ادارۂ تحفظ ماحولیات کے حکام نے بتایا کہ راول ڈیم میں تعمیراتی کام ہو رہا ہے، ہم سے کوئی اجازت نہیں لی گئی، مندر کے ساتھ درخت کاٹ دیے گئے ہیں۔ اجلاس میں فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے کہ سینیٹ کی قائمہ کمیٹی برائے ماحولیاتی تبدیلی خود راول ڈیم کا دورہ کرے گی۔سینیٹر شہادت اعوان کا پاکستان ٹریڈ کنٹرول برائے جنگلی حیوانات و نباتات ترمیمی بل بھی منظور کر لیا گیا ہے۔وزارتِ موسمیاتی تبدیلی کے حکام کا کہنا ہے کہ جانوروں کی ایکسپورٹ چیک کر سکتے ہیں، امپورٹ نہیں۔وزارتِ موسمیاتی تبدیلی کےحکام نے کہا کہ پلانٹ پروٹیکشن ایکٹ سے متعلقہ ادارے سے بھی بات کرنی چاہیے۔جس پر سینیٹر شہادت اعوان نے کہا کہ اگر بل میں کوئی نئی چیز شامل کریں گے تو بل پھر التواء کا شکار ہو جائے گا۔ڈی جی سینیٹیشن سی ڈی اے نے سینیٹ قائمہ کمیٹی برائے ماحولیاتی تبدیلی کو بریفنگ میں بتایا کہ 18نومبر کو 3 سیوریج پلانٹ بنانے کا ٹینڈر ہو جائے گا، ایک سال میں پلانٹ مکمل ہو گا، یہ منصوبہ 6 ارب روپے کا ہے

A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change was held under the chairmanship of Senator Sherry Rehman. In the meeting of the standing committee, the issue of pollution in Rawal Dam came under consideration. Sherry Rehman said that 9 million gallons of sewage is going into Rawal Dam on a daily basis, we are drinking polluted water from Rawal Dam, we don’t understand how the local government is working. He questioned. Why is the plant contract being given to an outside company? The whole world works at the local level to solve the problem of water pollution. Sherry Rehman said that priority should be given to local companies for managing the sewage of Rawal Dam, foreign companies and consultants will leave without completing the project. Environmental Protection Agency officials said that construction work is going on in Rawal Dam, no permission has been taken from us, trees have been cut near the temple. It has been decided in the meeting that the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change will itself visit the Rawal Dam. Senator Shahadat Awan’s Pakistan Trade Control for Wild Fauna and Flora Amendment Bill has also been approved. Ministry of Climate Change officials say that export of animals can be checked, not import. Officials of the Ministry of Climate Change said that the plant protection act should also be discussed with the concerned body. Senator Shahadat Awan said that if something new is added to the bill, the bill will be delayed again. DG Sanitation CDA told the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change in a briefing that on November 18, the tender for building 3 sewage plants will be opened, the plant will be completed in one year, this project is worth 6 billion rupees.
