Punjab: Permit made mandatory for vehicles operated through online app

پنجاب میں آن لائن ایپ سے چلنے والی گاڑیوں کو صوبائی ٹرانسپورٹ سے اجازت نامہ لینا لازمی قرار دے دیا گیا۔
آن لائن کیب سروسز کو ریگولیٹ کرنے کے لیے تجاویز پنجاب اسمبلی میں پیش کر دی گئیں، بل کے تحت گاڑیوں اور ڈرائیورز کو لائسنس دینے کا نظام متعارف کرایا گیا ہے۔
اسمبلی میں پیش کردہ بل کو صوبائی موٹر گاڑیاں ترمیمی ایکٹ 2024 کا نام دیا گیا جس کے مطابق گاڑی مالک یا ڈرائیور کو رجسٹریشن، فٹنس سرٹیفکیٹ اور لائسنس پیش کرنا ہو گا۔
آن لائن چلنے والی گاڑیوں کا اجازت نامہ ایک سال کے لیے ہو گا اور اسے ہر سال تجدید کرانا ہو گا، ایپلی کیشنز کو ڈرائیورز اور گاڑیوں کی معلومات حکومت کو فراہم کرنا ہوں گی۔
بل کے متن میں کہا گیا ہے کہ مسافروں کی حفاظت کے لیے ایپس کو شکایات حل کرنے کا نظام بنانا ہو گا جبکہ اگر کوئی ڈرائیور قواعد توڑتا ہے تو اس پر 2 ہزار روپے تک جرمانہ ہو گا۔

In Punjab, it has been made mandatory for vehicles running on online apps to obtain a permit from the provincial transport.
Proposals to regulate online cab services have been presented in the Punjab Assembly, under which a system of licensing vehicles and drivers has been introduced.
The bill presented in the assembly was named the Provincial Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2024, according to which the vehicle owner or driver will have to present registration, fitness certificate and license.
The permit for online vehicles will be for one year and will have to be renewed every year, applications will have to provide information about drivers and vehicles to the government.
The text of the bill states that for the safety of passengers, apps will have to create a complaint resolution system, while if a driver breaks the rules, he will be fined up to Rs 2,000.
