Police heavily fined for illegal spying on journalists

ناردرن آئرلینڈ کی عدالت نے صحافیوں کی غیر قانونی جاسوسی کرنے پر پولیس کو بھاری جرمانہ عائد کردیا۔
فیصلے کے مطابق ناردرن آئرلینڈ پولیس سروس اور میٹروپولیٹن پولیس نے دو بیلفاسٹ صحافیوں کی جاسوسی کی۔
عدالتی فیصلے کے مطابق پولیس نے جاسوسی کرتے ہوئے ان کے ذرائع کی شناخت کرنے کے لیے غیر قانونی عمل کیا۔
یہ تاریخی فیصلہ Investigatory Powers Tribunal نے Barry McCaffrey اور Trevor Birney کی جانب سے دائر کیے گئے مقدمے میں دیا۔
عدالت کی جانب سے ناردرن آئرلینڈ پولیس سروس کو ہر صحافی کو 4 ہزار پونڈ ادا کرنے کا بھی حکم دیا ہے۔
فیصلے میں کہا گیا ہے کہ پولیس کی خفیہ نگرانی کی کارروائی غیر متناسب تھی، پولیس نے ملکی اور عالمی تحفظات کو نقصان پہنچایا۔

A court in Northern Ireland has fined police heavily for illegally spying on journalists.
According to the verdict, the Northern Ireland Police Service and the Metropolitan Police spied on the two Belfast journalists.
According to the court verdict, the police engaged in illegal activity while spying to identify their sources.
This historic decision was made by the Investigatory Powers Tribunal in a case filed by Barry McCaffrey and Trevor Birney.
The court also ordered the Northern Ireland Police Service to pay £4,000 to each journalist.
The judgment said that the secret surveillance operation by the police was disproportionate, that the police harmed national and international security.
