EU Special Representative for Human Rights meets Maryam Nawaz

وزیرِاعلیٰ مریم نواز سے یورپی یونین کے خصوصی نمائندہ برائے انسانی حقوق اولوف سکوگ کی قیادت میں وفد نے ملاقات کی۔
ملاقات میں بنیادی انسانی حقوق، جمہوریت اور قانون کی حکمرانی کے فروغ پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا، وزیرِاعلیٰ مریم نواز نے یورپی یونین کی پاکستان خصوصاً پنجاب سے مسلسل شراکت داری اور انسانی حقوق کے معاملے پر تعمیری روابط کو سراہا۔
یورپی یونین وفد نے پنجاب حکومت کی انسانی حقوق کے تحفظ کی کاوشوں کی حمایت جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا، یورپی یونین کے نمائندے اولوف سکوگ نے پاکستان کی جانب سے انسانی حقوق کے فروغ اور کمزور طبقات کے تحفظ کے لیے کیے گئے اقدامات کو سراہا۔
اس موقع پر گفتگو کرتے ہوئے وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب مریم نواز کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان اقوامِ متحدہ کے انسانی حقوق کے میکانزم کے ساتھ بھرپور تعاون کر رہا ہے،پنجاب حکومت جمہوریت، قانون کی حکمرانی اور انسانی حقوق کے فروغ کیلئے پُرعزم اور کاربند ہے، اقلیتوں، خواتین، بچوں، خصوصی افراد اور دیگر کمزور طبقات کی فلاح و بہبود کیلئے عملی اقدامات کر رہے ہیں۔
مریم نواز نے مزید کہا کہ پاکستان نے حالیہ عرصے میں اقوامِ متحدہ کے انسانی حقوق سے متعلق اہم جائزہ اجلاس میں شرکت کی، اگست 2024 میں پاکستان نے نسل پرستی کے خاتمے کے بین الاقوامی کنونشن (ICERD) کے تحت جائزہ کامیابی سے پیش کیا،بنیادی انسانی حقوق کے فروغ کیلئے یورپی یونین سے اشتراک مستقبل میں مزید بنائیں گے۔

The meeting discussed the promotion of fundamental human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz appreciated the European Union’s continued partnership with Pakistan, especially Punjab, and constructive engagement on the issue of human rights.
The European Union delegation reiterated its commitment to continue supporting the Punjab government’s efforts to protect human rights. EU Representative Olof Skoog appreciated the steps taken by Pakistan to promote human rights and protect vulnerable groups.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan is fully cooperating with the United Nations human rights mechanisms. The Punjab government is determined and committed to the promotion of democracy, the rule of law and human rights. They are taking practical steps for the welfare of minorities, women, children, special persons and other vulnerable groups.
Maryam Nawaz further said that Pakistan recently participated in an important review meeting on human rights at the United Nations. In August 2024, Pakistan successfully submitted a review under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD). We will further strengthen cooperation with the European Union in the future to promote fundamental human rights.
