8 ستمبر پاک بحریہ کو خراج تحسین پیش کرنے کا دن ہے، 1965 کی جنگ میں بری اور فضائی افواج نے دفاع وطن کا فریضہ بھرپور طریقے سے انجام دیا لیکن 8 ستمبر کا دن پاک بحریہ کے نام رہا۔طیارہ بردار جہاز نہ ہونے کے باوجود پاک بحریہ نے اس جنگ میں بہادری اور پیشہ ورانہ مہارت کی نئی تاریخ رقم کی۔
1965 کو جب رات کی تاریکی میں بھارتی فوج نے پاکستان پر شب خون مارنے کی مذموم کوشش کی تو پاک افواج نے تمام محاذوں پر منہ توڑ جواب دیا، بری اور فضائی محاذوں کے ساتھ ساتھ بحری محاذ پر بھی دشمن کو دھول چٹائی اور4 گنا بڑی بھارتی فوج کو منہ کی کھانا پڑی۔
کراچی سے تقریباً350 کلو میٹر دور دوارکا کو بھارت کے دفاعی قلعے کی حیثیت حاصل تھی، جہاں قائم ریڈار سٹیشن سے بھارتی فضائیہ کو مدد فراہم کی جا رہی تھی،7 جنگی جہازوں پر مشتمل پاک بحریہ کا جنگی بیڑا ریڈیو سگنلز کے بغیر آگے بڑھا اور دوارکا کے سر پر پہنچ کر توپوں کا منہ کھول دیا، بحری فوج نے چند منٹ میں بھارتی ریڈار سٹیشن مکمل تباہ کر دیا۔
